Activist Trauma Support
Witnessing or being on the receiving end of police violence and aggression can be an upsetting and traumatic experience. If you are feeling shaken up or disturbed following any stressful experiences and you feel like you could do with a chat or support, please feel free to contact Activist Trauma Support even if you feel your problem or need may be relatively small. We will have a safe space at the Swoop, but it may be only after the event back at home that you realise you have been negatively affected.
We are a small group of activists who have either experienced or been close to people who have been affected by post-traumatic stress or burn-out. We are NOT experts about these issues, but we are concerned about the psychological effects of repression on activists who may deliberately expose themselves to violence when they believe it's necessary.
