The plan

Each bloc has a separate mission, and slightly different plan, to ensure we have the whole power station covered for a successful take over! The first thing you need to do is choose your bloc and sign up for text alerts here.

You can download printable maps of Ratcliffe here.

Below is more info about each blocs plans …

Footsteps for the future

  • First meet up point: 10am Nottingham Station.
  • Second meet up point: East Midlands Parkway Train Station by 12noon.

This bloc’s mission is to get to the main gate and create your vision of a better future!

This means bringing along your props, models, puppets and banners to display! Get your creative hats on, mix up the papier mache paste and think BIG! From wind turbines to guerilla gardening, and singing to a giant picnic – the future is bright, colourful, fun and LOUD! This is your opportunity to show another world is possible – and what it would look like!

For those of you not coming by public transport, the East Midlands Parkway Station car park is on a dead end road and is over £5 a day. We will be setting off from East Midlands Parkway Station at 12noon.

On route to the power station we will be able to pickup other Footsteppers at the junction on the A453 just east of the railway bridge, grid reference 49.8/29.3 at approx. 12:15

If you’re planning on coming on this bloc, it’d be great if you could email info@campaigncc.org to let us know.Join our discussion list

Bike Bloc: The Roaming Riders of Resistance

The Bike Bloc's mission is to reclaim the streets, to reclaim the highways, to be the Swoops road patrol.

The Bike Bloc will be a river of pedal powered resistance machines, a postcapitalist bike gang and an art bike carnival. Calling all bike lovers, bike hackers, bike trailers, climate campers and soundsytems!

The Plan:

  • 15th – Set off from Leeds Train station at 10am, arrive in the evening at Sheffield Social Centre.
  • 16th – Set off from Sheffield Train Station 10am, arrive in the evening at Nottingham.
  • 17th – CRITICAL MASS, set off from Nottingham Train Station at 10am.

Once at the power station we’ll boom pedal powered tunes, cycle the streets as our fancy takes us and be on call for the rest of the blocs. See a high vis van? Then call the roving resistance machine to block it’s path with a critical mass!

If you’re planning on coming on this bloc, it’d be great if you could email yorks.gcs.outreach@googlemail.com to let us know.

Take Back The Power and False Solutions blocs

Take Back the Power’s mission: get to the control room and take back the power!

False Solution’s mission: get to the coal pile and expose the false solutions!

1) Get into the zone marked on the map here: LINK for 10am
2) Get to the muster point for 11am. The muster point will be sent out on
Saturday morning, before 10am
3) SWOOP on Ratcliffe for 1pm!

If you don’t get any communication about a muster point - just swoop for 1!

The muster point will be a great place to get excited and energise for swooping, get legal info and get the reassurance that you’re not taking over Ratcliffe on Soar alone!

On the other hand, if gathering as a group isn’t your thing, join the decentralised Capitalism is Crisis bloc and make sure you swoop at 1!

Capitalism is crisis

The decentralised bloc’s mission: get anywhere in or around the power station and choose your own adventure!

You maybe decentralised but still sign up to the sms service so you can stay updated with what’s happening on the day

Get connected

However you’re swooping, sign up to receive text messages about your bloc here

And if you haven’t already got a map, it’s really, really important that you print one out when signing up for the text. Download a map here.

Best printed on A3 but any map is better than none!

Message to affinity groups

While we're making history at the Swoop, we'll also be making the news...

Our fabulous team of activist photographers and videographers will be out in force to document the Swoop. If you and your affinity group are planning something that deserves to be documented, get in touch with media@climatecamp.org.uk and we can arrange something securely.
